africa!

11:00 AM
on a happier note, africa was fantastic. the country has an immense amount of potential and it really saddened me to see secondary education not available to many, and those who did get university degress left the country for greener pastures. so you get many jobless - due to the dearth of jobs AND to the fact that the people are educationally unqualified for what's available. the men just mooch around the whole day. but the kids are absolutely adorable: they yell 'mzungu mzungu!' (white man) everytime they see a tourist vehicle and run and wave frantically. hahahah. i wanted to bring back some cute little kiddos but my dad told me to stop pretending to me madonna or anglelina jolie.

to reiterate: i am angelina jolie okay. i insist. what, you don't agree? whatever, go bang some walls.

the safaris were amazing. serengeti (wide open space in maasai), ngorongoro (named after the sound that the wildebeests make) and tarangire. so nice! it was like being in jurassic park.

to clear common misconceptions:

lions are NOT ferocious creatures. they are lazy and sleep all the time. zebras and fat and eat all the time. hippos are lazy too, they hibernate in the water and yawn all the time. wildebeests are cute and not at all fugly - the have spindly legs and fat round bodies. sources inform me wildebeest meat tastes good YUCK! so grossss. monkeys are the most entertaining, they are constantly doing something like picking nits off each others' armpits. i wanted to take one home, dad said we have enough monkeys in the house. ohwell.

ANDand baby animals are cutest ever. baby elephants playing with each other, baby ostriches trotting after their parents, baby monkeys carried on their mothers' backs, baby zebras with their light brown stripes, baby lions as the peek over the boulder. aahhh.

and subconsciously, i bought the lion king soundtrack. which is greatness!
